American Band

LP Includes Bonus 7-Inch Single

Drive-By Truckers have always been outspoken, telling a distinctly American story via craft, character, and concept, all backed by sonic ambition and social conscience. Founded in 1996 by singer/songwriter/guitarists Mike Cooley and Patterson Hood, the band have long held a progressive fire in their belly but with AMERICAN BAND, they have made the most explicitly political album in their extraordinary canon. A powerful and legitimately provocative work, hard edged and finely honed, the album is the sound of a truly American Band – a Southern American band – speaking on matters that matter. DBT made the choice to direct the Way We Live Now head on, employing realism rather than subtext or symbolism to purge its makers’ own anger, discontent, and frustration with societal disintegration and the urban/rural divide that has partitioned the country for close to a half-century.

AMERICAN BAND’s considerable force can in part be credited to the sheer musical strength of the current Drive-By Truckers line-up, with Hood and Cooley joined by bassist Matt Patton, keyboardist/multi-instrumentalist Jay Gonzalez, and drummer Brad Morgan – together, the longest-lasting iteration in the band’s two-decade history. AMERICAN BAND follows ENGLISH OCEANS and 2015’s IT’S GREAT TO BE ALIVE!, marking the first time DBT have made three consecutive LPs with the same hard-traveling crew.

Southern Rock Opera

Now signed to Lost Highway, the Truckers are re-re leasing SRO to a primed, and larger audience. Major critics have been lauding the album since it's release, with features/reviews in Billboard, Magnet Pulse (4 stars), Amplifer, Village Voice (Dean's List).

Go-Go Boots

Drive-By Truckers bring you their eleventh record, GO-GO BOOTS, which was produced by their longtime producer David Barbe (Deerhunter, Betty LaVette, Sugar). GO-GO BOOTS builds on their roots with the old Muscle Shoals country-and-soul sound. "We recorded nearly 40 songs last year and into this year and fairly early on divided it into two separate albums" explains DBT co-founder Patterson Hood. "THE BIG TO-DO, released first, was the more straightforward Rock album. GO-GO BOOTS is what I sometimes (semi-jokingly) refer to as our country, soul, and murder ballad album. Those elements definitely play into it, but it's a little more open ended than that." Patterson Hood and Mike Cooley continue to be the chief songwriters of the group, continuing a musical partnership that has lasted over twenty-three years.

The Big To-Do

2010 release, the Truckers' 10th album in an amazing 13 year career. The Big To-Do features 13 new tracks from the Drive-By Truckers and was produced by their long time producer, David Barbe (Sugar, Bettye LaVette). Patterson Hood and Mike Cooley continue to be the chief songwriters of the group, continuing a musical partnership that has lasted over 23 years. Bassist, Shonna Tucker, flexes her songwriting muscles once again by contributing two original songs to the album. Brad Morgan (drums), John Neff (guitar/pedal steel) and Jay Gonzalez (keyboards) round out the current Drive-By Truckers lineup. This double LP is pressed on 180 gram.
