Description & Details
Comics historian R. C. Harvery has called Winsor McCay "the first original genius of the comic strip medium" and his masterpiece “Little Nemo in Slumberland” it can be considered the first and most important character in the world of comics. Little Nemo debuted on the New York Herald on October 15, 1905, his drawings have influenced several generations of cartoonists in later years, of fact Little Nemo is still considered an example of sequential art for anyone who wants to engage in the comics world.
He is, to all intents and purposes, considered the “father” of the art of the Comic Strip or Sequential Art par excellence: Winsor McCay, with his character of Nemo, paved the way for all the cartoonists who came in later years. And once again, Infinite Statue has created the first significant tribute to the man who actually invented the art of the Comic.
Here, for the first time, is a 3D homage to a character who unquestionably represents the “birth” of the comic as we understand it today. His creator, Winsor McCay, was not just a genius illustrator in the strict sense, but also the person who made a fully-fledged art out of sequential narration.
Here we see Nemo at his usual “awakening”, bringing him back to the real world, but supported by one of his best “travelling companions” in the world of dreams who is still smiling from his adventures.
Made with rich, well-made details, this statue is an authentic gift for anyone who loves the history of comic books and anyone who wants to own a unique, once-in-a-lifetime piece of it.
