Wētā Workshop was intrinsically involved in the design and physical effects manufacture for all three films of The Lord of the Rings™ trilogy.

Based on sketches by legendary conceptual designer Alan Lee and brought to life by the 3Foot6 Ltd. Construction team under the guidance of production designer Grant Major, these blueprints were instrumental in transforming artistic vision into the on-screen grandeur fans know and love.

Minas Tirith, one of the film’s most iconic locations, consisted of expansive sets—both interior and exterior—along with several large miniatures and extensive digital extensions and augmentations.

Unveiled from the depths of the Middle-earth vault, these 1:2 scale reproductions of the original set plans from The Return of the King offer a rare glimpse into the craftsmanship behind one of the most iconic locations in cinematic history - Minas Tirith.
