Wētā Workshop was intrinsically involved in the design and physical effects manufacture for all three films of The Lord of the Rings™ trilogy.

Based on sketches by legendary conceptual designers Alan Lee and John Howe and brought to life by the 3Foot6 Ltd. construction team under the guidance of production designer Grant Major, these blueprints were instrumental in transforming artistic vision into the on-screen grandeur fans know and love.

Bag End, one of the film’s most iconic locations, consisted of both interior and exterior sets built at different scales, including one constructed at the Hobbiton location near Matamata, New Zealand.
